Attention to all Burmese exile activists in Norway:

Subject: Open Invitation: 2nd General Meeting of Burmese Activists in Norway

All the Burmese exile activists are warmly invited to attend 2nd general meeting in Kristiansand, Vest-Agder, Norway. The meeting will be attended by committee members of MRC-N (Myanmar Representatives Committee-Norway; which was organized on November 16, 2013 at Norwegian Burma Committee office). The MRC-N committee is still open for any representatives such as various ethnics groups, political organizations, and civil societies; those who were not able to attend in the previous meeting for various reasons in order to form Burmese Representatives in Norway.

The main objective to form a Burmese Representative Committee in Norway is “To be closely monitored and cooperate with Genuine Peace Movement Process for Burma & To Be Assist All-around Development Activities in Burma”.

The meeting will be including different topics as follows:
12:00 -12:30 – Opening speech & Introduction among attendees (Aung Htun)
12:30 -12:45 – Brief information about the meeting and its purpose (Jonathan Thang).
12:45 -12:50 – Introduction Speech on “the role of Batteriet- Kirkens Bymisjon in Norway” (Øyvind Hope)
12:45 -14:00 – Finding different solutions & options on well rotted problems among different ethnics in Burma;
a short-lecture/presentation based on practical research by T.S. Johnsen (Former UN officer &
Norwegian Church Aids officer)
14:00 -14:30 – Refreshment (Burmese Foods)
14:30 -14:45 – Peace Reconciliation Strategy presentation by K. Rossaak (UN officer)
14:45 -15:30 – General Discussion Part I
15:30 -16:30 – Adding/deducting into the current MRC-N committee members and sharing responsibilities among
MRC-N committee members based on various departmental tasks.
16:30-16:45 – Refreshment Break
16:45-17:45 – General Discussion Part II
17:45-18:00 – The program conclusion speech.

Short to the points of Meeting Minutes from the 1st meeting in Oslo
Date: On November 16, 2013
Time: 12.00 – 16.00
Venue: NBC hall, Kirkegate 5, Oslo

Key Points:
A.) The attendees agreed to name the Burmese representatives as “Myanmar Representatives Committee – Norway”.

B.) There were 15 representatives from different organizations such as:
i) Ethnics National Representatives Committee
ii) Political parties or organizations’ representatives committee and
iii) Civil society organizations’ representatives committee, and
iv) Individual active activists are being allowed to be involved under a certain quota of making decision status.
Out of 15 representatives, 12 persons were elected to be members of “Myanmar Representatives Committee – Norway”.

C.) “Myanmar Representatives Committee – Norway” elected two persons as general contact person for the committee or to take responsible as public relationships until further notice is being made. Their names are:
i) Mr. Aung Htun (0047-95489543), and
ii) Jonathan Thang (0047-97690451)

D.) Details discussion were made such as; how the committees should involving to implement various pilot projects by collecting information on the grass roots level of Burmese societies’ basic economic driving-force & listening civil societies’ voices; to cooperate with different NGOs, INGOs and Governmental Organizations in the field of development projects & activities.

E.) The committee agreed to conduct second meeting in the end of December 2013 or early January 2014. During the second meeting, committee will be raising/inviting absentee organizations’/ethnics’ representatives to take their roles and responsibilities by cooperating with committee members of MRC-N.
